Pitch Range
Plays E3 to G5, fully chromatic
- G Major basic scale of 17 notes (2 1/4 octaves)
- 28 total notes when counting all sharps and flats
The Double BG shown here has the second chamber F#/G tonehole moved to the underside of the ocarina where it is covered by the right thumb (this configuration is often referred to as Japanese style fingering). Alternatively, the F/G hole can be located on the topside of the ocarina, to be slide-covered along with the E/F# hole, as with standard Asian fingering. Placing the F#/G tonehole in either position does not change the price of the ocarina.
