I have received the ocarinas and xun on yesterday. I have been able to spend a couple of hours on their playing.
     They look great and they sound even greater.

     The holes of the double bass ocarinas were bigger than I expected, but after 30 minutes of practice it's now ok, my fingers have find the proper way to close the holes. The left pinky will have to learn how to deal with the weight of the double ocarina with no rest while paying, but it was something I knew about before purchasing. I was aware that a double bass is somewhat heavier than an Alto 12 holes, thus no surprise, only muscle strengthening through practicing.

     The low A and low B are so easy to get in the proper pitch on both ocarinas.

     The double chamber is something quite new for me thus I do struggle a little with chamber switching and with the proper breath level to play in tune on the second chamber (I play too sharp for the time being), but again practice will make me become fluent.

     The tone of both ocarinas is crystal clear, pure as water or light, though and I can hear the deep clay sound and the earthy soil in them. Great achievement..

     The Xun embouchure will take some practice to master, as of today the lower notes are Ok to achieve, but the upper note from B to F are a little more difficult to get a sound with.

     It's the other way around for the Irish flute for example, where the high C to G are fine and relatively easy to sound, while the bottom D is difficult to sound at all. Practicing Irish flute and Xun will help me to improving my embouchure on both.

     A lot of practice in front of me, but fun and and pleasing work with such great musical instrument. So happy with my purchase.

Triple BC Extended Range

Hi Bill,

My Bass Triple Chamber Extended Range, Key of C ocarina arrived about three weeks ago.

The sound of my instrument is absolutely beautiful. Clear, not airy or fuzzy, but in the same time it’s warm and mellow. The whole ocarina is very resonant even when I’m playing on the higher chambers. Lovely and relaxing. Also I’m pleased with the natural, organic look of the clay. 

The padded case fits nicely, giving good enough protection against lighter damage.

I started playing on a little Alto C 12-hole ocarina not long ago. At first, my new Bass Triple Camber ocarina felt extremely heavy. I was able to play on it for a short period of time, but I felt my thumbs falling off. After thee days it got significantly better, after three weeks I don’t even notice the weight anymore. So don’t worry, just be patient and give time for yourself.

For me, chamber switching between the two lower chambers is a bit challenging, it still takes time to organize my fingers above the holes. I try to practice just on easy little children’s songs. Switching between the higher chambers is more smooth. 

Playing ocarina is pretty straightforward and not too complicated even if you have no previous experience with instruments. Double chamber ocarinas are giving more room to grow.

If I would start learning today, I would go for an Imperial City Alto Double Chamber, Key of C.

I just wanted to say that I received the triple AC ocarina today and I was in for quite the pleasant surprise! This ocarina has immediately become my favorite in my collection! I was surprised by the comfortable ergonomics, the easy chamber switching, its smooth yet easy-to-grip texture, and most of all, its sound! The sound of the ocarina is as smooth as its texture. The lower notes are resonant, expressive, and powerful, while the higher notes are very pleasant and do not require strenuous effort. It is such a wonderful ocarina that really helps to convey my emotion while playing it. 

     Please tell Song Wei that I love his work and that I am very happy with it. 

     On a side note, Bill, I was surprised that I didn't need much breath pressure on the higher notes of the first chamber as I do with the mini double. Don't get me wrong, I love the mini double, but this triple ocarina plays like a dream! I will definitely be ordering from Imperial City Ocarina in the future!

I really love the tone of the purple clay best and, like the double chamber bass ocarina I ordered from you a few years back, I continue to be impressed with Song Wei’s work in making professional ocarinas. A true master of his craft!

I absolutely love the triple bass extended range ocarina. What a lovely round sound!

     The Xun is going to take some work…. I played flute for years, so assumed it would be easy…. But the first time trying I could only get the lowest couple of notes to sound. After some work, I can get sound on the whole scale. But music on it is out of the question until I get more adept at getting a tone out! I know it just takes getting used to and at some point it will click.

     Anyway, I couldn't be happier with my experience and the products. And I can already tell that this triple bass is going to be my go-to ocarina, especially when I want to relax and be mellow.

I hope you, Song Wei, and everyone at ICO had a peaceful holiday season and new year. Over the past few months the custom Cantata has become my #1 favorite ocarina in my collection, so I wanted to start by thanking you and Song Wei both for all your help and work with that piece. The other guys in the acoustic group with me love it too, they were able to hear me play the upper chambers from across a sizable lake, I’ll have to get a video for you next time.

     You can imagine my surprise seeing the Fed-Ex truck pull up as I was enjoying my morning coffee with my sweetie on my front porch.

     I absolutely love both the ocarina and its case. The ocarina is beautiful, feels great, sounds mellow, and is a delight to play. Although I have only owned 12 hole ocarinas, this one is so easy to play and just inviting me to expand my abilities. There was no problem with the different fingering, no difficulty with breath or pitch. Everything seems easy and smooth about it.

Oak Leaf Triple BC

Hi Bill,

     I'm writing just to let you know that my ocarina arrived yesterday evening. Of course I haven't had time to try it properly yet... However, I played some simple tunes on the first chamber and I absolutely love it!!! I love the deep and "earthy" tone of the first chamber, and every single note of all the chambers seems perfectly in tune!!! Besides, as you know I was worried about a lot of things (weight, hole size, breath slope, my oily fingers,...) but everything seems really good, and the ocarina fits perfectly in my hands and fingers!! Now, I just have to get used to this new (and bigger) instrument, especially with chamber switching (which I've never done before).

     You might be interested to know that I had to pay fees and taxes for about 31$ when the ocarina arrived in London. Of course I was expecting that, no problems at all, but maybe this information could be useful for your next italian customers ;-)

     Last but not least, I would like to thank you and Mr Song Wei one last time. Mr. Wei did a great job in manufacturing this little masterpiece I'm holding in my hands, and you helped me so much with every aspect and every choice!!! Thanks for being so patient and detailed in answering my thousand questions and my long emails!!! I've had a great experience with you guys, and I will surely come back to you in the future if I need more ocarinas!! And of course I will definitely recommend buying from you, when my friends need great ocarinas!!
